HURON, S.D. – The city of Huron has installed a new 18-hole adventure golf course and renovated a 1928 bathhouse located near Ravine Lake. Through the assistance of the Governor’s Million Dollar Challenge, the new additions will be marketed to surrounding areas for the upcoming summer tourism season.

Putters & Scoops, as the new addition is known, will open to the community on May 23, 2009. The renovated bathhouse will now serve as an ice cream shop that serves South Dakota State University ice cream as well as homemade pies.

RavineLake Concession used the Million Dollar Challenge grant to install new signs in the Huron area to make visitors aware of the new features at RavineLake. The grant also allowed the group to purchase advertising space in South Dakota Magazine, and print rack cards to be used in mailings to groups considering Huron for a convention or sporting event.

In addition to the marketing made possible by the Million Dollar Challenge grant, Ravine Lake Concession has been able to develop partnerships with other members of the Huron business community. These partnerships give all of Huron’s residents the opportunity to enjoy the RavineLake area this summer.

RavineLake is located in on the eastern edge of Huron, S.D.

RavineLake Concession is a recipient of the Governor’s Million Dollar Challenge Program. The Governor’s Million Dollar Challenge program is a part of Goal 1 of the 2010 initiative to double visitor spending in South Dakota.
